Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our team. This role will focus exclusively on installation work for commercial and multi-family dwellings, providing an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates to gain hands-on experience in the low voltage industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of low voltage systems, including structured cabling for commercial and multi-family projects.
- Pull, terminate, and test Cat5/Cat6 cables in various settings.
- Install devices such as j-hooks, patch panels, and cable racks.
- Assemble and mount equipment racks, ladder racks, and other cable support structures.
- Label and organize cabling according to industry standards and project requirements.
- Ensure all work meets safety regulations and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on-site.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in installing and troubleshooting low voltage systems, with a preference for greater technical expertise.
- Proficiency in fiber splicing and troubleshooting existing fiber plants.
- Installation of overhead cable supports, J-Hooks, and cable running lines properly aligned with cable trays.
- Termination experience with Category 5, 5E, 6, 6a, fiber strands over 100, and copper.
- Proficiency in finish work, including the installation of faceplates and device labeling.
- Experience with anaerobic (2-part epoxy) terminations.
- Proficiency with Fluke OTDR and Fluke Power meter.
- Experience in medium-level fiber network troubleshooting.
- Background in new commercial construction, tenant improvements, and remodels.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications.
Requirements:
- Conduct structured cabling, security/access control, and related cable system installations for large commercial projects.
- Maintain a professional appearance and exhibit a positive and respectful attitude.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year of professional experience; willing to train the right candidate.
- Possess a valid driver's license, valid car insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a company-standard drug screen and background check.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
- Available for 40+ hours per week.
