Position : Packaging Engineer
Location : Greenville, SC
Compensation : $85,000 - $95,000 per year
Job Type : Direct Hire

About the Role

A manufacturing industry leader is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development and standardization projects. This role involves overseeing packaging design, qualification, and testing activities with a focus on optimizing performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate closely with purchasing, production, and quality teams to drive improvement initiatives and packaging innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead packaging qualification activities, including test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
Conduct packaging risk assessments and lead failure mode and root cause analyses.
Oversee design and testing of new packaging as well as improvements on existing packaging for performance and cost savings.
Plan and conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare final reports.
Coordinate packaging line trials, collaborating with internal and external partners.
Facilitate packaging-related cost analysis and feasibility assessments with purchasing and production teams.

Requirements

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering.
Experience : 5-10 years in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials, formats, and processes, especially related to racking, returnables, and dunnage.
Advanced expertise in packaging qualification and validation processes, as well as project timeline development.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence cross-functional teams.
Ability to multitask and manage project timelines efficiently.
Willingness to travel as needed to facilitate trials and collaborate across locations.
