Position : Packaging Engineer

Compensation : $85,000 - $95,000 per year

About the Role

A manufacturing industry leader is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development and standardization projects. This role involves overseeing packaging design, qualification, and testing activities with a focus on optimizing performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate closely with purchasing, production, and quality teams to drive improvement initiatives and packaging innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead packaging qualification activities, including test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct packaging risk assessments and lead failure mode and root cause analyses.
• Oversee design and testing of new packaging as well as improvements on existing packaging for performance and cost savings.
• Plan and conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare final reports.
• Coordinate packaging line trials, collaborating with internal and external partners.
• Facilitate packaging-related cost analysis and feasibility assessments with purchasing and production teams.

Requirements

• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering.
• Experience : 5-10 years in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, formats, and processes, especially related to racking, returnables, and dunnage.
• Advanced expertise in packaging qualification and validation processes, as well as project timeline development.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to multitask and manage project timelines efficiently.
• Willingness to travel as needed to facilitate trials and collaborate across locations.
