Job Description

We're hiring a Certified Youth Peer Specialist for our client in Middletown, NY. Ideal candidate will have past experience working as a Youth Peer and has past lived experience in a Mental Health Facility and MUST be a Certified Peer Specialist

Duties

• Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
• Serve as a role model and mentor to individuals in recovery
• Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal recovery goals
• Conduct individual and group sessions to promote wellness and self-care
• Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement individualized care plan
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques to provide immediate support during times of crisis
• Assist individuals in navigating behavioral health systems and accessing community resources
• Document client interactions and progress in accordance with agency policies

Experience:

• Certification as a Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification
• Experience working in the field of mental health or substance use disorders preferred
• Knowledge of crisis management techniques and strategies
• Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
• Understanding of behavioral health systems and community resources
• Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
