The Talon Tribe is hiring a Senior Accountant!

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Club, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting regulations. This position plays a key role in accounts receivable, inventory, financial planning, analysis, and reporting while supporting decision-making within the club.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage all day-to-day financial operations of the Club in coordination with the Director of Finance.
  2. Review the reconciliation of monthly general ledger accounts including receivables, payables, bank accounts, asset accounts and liability accounts.
  3. Prepare accounting reports, financial analysis and information as directed by the Director of Finance.
  4. Inform and advise other department heads about the financial aspects of their responsibilities.
  5. Meets with department heads monthly to review variances with their departmental forecasts.
  6. With the Director of Finance and Executive Leadership, analyze financial information, monitor budgeted versus actual financial performance, work with management to evaluate variances; recommend corrective actions to ensure that procedures are consistent with Club policies and best practices.
  7. In tandem with the Director of Finance, formulate, recommend, and oversee policy relating to accounting and auditing, the budget, revenue and expense procedures, tax matters, compilations of statistics, office methods and procedures.
  8. Prepare and distribute monthly statements to members, ensuring accuracy and adherence to billing cycles.
  9. Monitor and track incoming payments.
  10. Process member payments through various methods (credit card, ACH, checks, etc.).
  11. Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  12. Generate ageing reports and assist in the collection of outstanding balances.
  13. Conduct monthly inventory counts to ensure accurate records of stock levels.
  14. Record and update inventory data in the system, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  15. Coordinate with relevant departments to maintain accurate inventory records and address any inventory-related issues.
  16. Oversee the Purchase Order System and adherence to approved spending matrix.
  17. Maintain fixed asset ledgers, close capital expense projects and report any deviations from approved capital budget.
  18. Oversee document retention and electronic filing of Finance records.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. A bachelor's degree in accounting, or related program of study, from a four-year college or university is required. Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  2. 5+ years of accounting experience, background in hospitality accounting preferred.
  3. Strong computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Previous experience with Jonas Software is a plus.
  4. Private club experience preferred but not required.
  5. The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and remain flexible and responsive.
  6. Good judgment and sound decision-making skills.
  7. The ability to exercise good time management skills and be detail oriented.
  8. A high level of integrity and confidentiality.
